Brombal Materials Facts 04/12/2015

At Brombal USA, we offer a wide range of materials to suit your needs, whether it would be for a residential or commercial project.   We have come up with a couple of key facts for each of the 5 materials we offer:

1. Our steel goes through multiple processes to ensure longevity.  First, all sections go through a skin-passing process which applies galvanization to both sides of the steel before it is formed into a section.

2. We offer 2 finishing options which offer exceptional durability. First is a traditional powder coating process where the finish applied and baked on creating a durable long lasting finish.  Second is a 5 step painting process with an adhesive primer and multiple coats of durable paint.  Either option allows for a variety of colors to choose from using the RAL color system.

1. Our Bronze/Brass contains 67% Copper, which creates a high resistance to corrosion, and 33% Zinc which provides the necessary mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength. Our Brass material has the prestige of bronze due to its beautiful patina and high resistance to corrosion, which make it appealing to almost any project.

2. Bonze/Brass creates a self-protecting patina generated by the natural oxidation process which makes the final product ideal for marine environments.

1. CorTen steel is a high-resistance self-passivating alloy containing copper, chrome and phosphorus, characterized by a high resistance to corrosion with excellent tensile strength. The alloys are  are self-protective through the formation of a superficial coating that prevents the progressive extending of the corrosion process. This self-protecting layer creates the warm brown tones over the surface which give it that unique appearance.

2. Brombal was the first manufacturer to use this material for doors and windows,

Stainless Steel:
1. Available in both a 304 and 316L marine grade, this material is perfect for marine and corrosive environments.

2. The physical features of stainless steel allow for narrow sightlines sections which require minimal maintenance.

3. Multiple finishes are available such and scotch brite, brushed, mirror and even a blackened finish.

1. Bi-Metal allows the flexibility of choosing 2 different types of materials to be combined, 1 for the interior and 1 for the exterior.

5 Benefits of Steel Over Aluminum 13/11/2015

Steel Material from Brombal USA is made from a specific alloy, the FeP02 with a GZ200 hot zinc coating. This protects the profile from oxidation from both inside and outside of the face. It is finished through a skin-passing process, which allows a better paint grip. Steel is available in a variety of colors in polished, semi- polished or sable finishing.

Steel has many advantages over the weaker material, aluminum. We at Brombal USA decided to come up with 5 benefits that will help you understand your options with steel windows and doors.

1. Steel is a better choice than aluminum for thermally-broken fenestration… why? Steel insulates 5x better than aluminum. Also, steel unit sizes can be much larger than aluminum units. This allows for narrower frame dimensions while still offering large expanses of glazing. By reducing the ratio of frame sightlines to glass the overall unit thermal performance is increased.

2. Structurally steel is 3x stronger than aluminum. This translates into the ability to fabricate the ever growing demand for larger sized door and window frames while maintaining the best structural integrity in the fenestration industry.

3. Brombal steel profiles are “green”. They are made from 100% recycled steel… oh and if you want them in GREEN we have that covered as well. Powder coating color options are nearly infinite. Not only does the high efficiency thermal break save your pocket book money Brombal also helps to save the planet by our “green” manufacturing processes.

4. Have you heard of the term “shelf life”? In construction lingo we use the term “sustainability”. When you consider the overall costs of a product the “sustainability” of that product must enter the equation. Steel windows and doors have this type of durability. If cared for properly they can outlive the structure they are placed in. Studies show that steel windows can easily last and continue to function for much longer than aluminum, wood, or vinyl products, even as much as 3 – 4 times longer.

5. It’s hard to put a price tag on the aesthetic value of steel windows but let’s just say that steel windows have an enduring quality that the most discernible architects, builders, and homeowners recognize. It starts with the simple crisp outlines of the frames which envelops the often heard adage that “less is more”. Windows are made to look through not at. They frame the landscape and allow light to enter the structure. Steel provides this advantage and more… although the frames sizes are subtle steel is a strong and bold material that exudes confidence and style. It has a way of standing out in architecture symbolizing strength and durability.
